Stampede 66 by Stephan Pyles at Delta Hotels Dallas Allen continues their monthly pairing dinners with a five-course sangira dinner featuring Messina Hof Winery.

On Monday, August 12 at 6:30pm, Tiffany Hand of Republic National Distributing Company will guide guests through the summertime sangria pairing choices as Chef Pyles and Executive Chef Race describe each course.

Here’s what’s on the menu:

First Course – Shared Appetizers: Ash Baked Brie with Chipotle-Raspberry Jam and Local Goat Cheese Dip with Crudité
Wine: White Apple Peach Sangria

Second Course – Tapas Style: Steamed Mussels, Fried Olives, Pan Con Tomate, Pickled Carrots, Blistered Padron Peppers
Wine: Classic Red Sangria

Third Course: Fried Calamari Taco with Lemon-Garlic Aioli
Wine: White Orange, Lemon & White Grape Sangria

Fourth Course: Grilled Flank Steak, Cilantro Chimichurri, Spicy Chorizo Risotto, Roasted Summer Heirloom Vegetables
Wine: Cherry Blood Orange Red Sangria

Fifth Course: Grilled Summer Fruits, Fruity Pebbles Macaron, Chocolate Salami
Wine: Pink Strawberry Raspberry Sangria

Mallow Box S’Mores Bar Cafe Opens

Gourmet marshmallows arrive at the Shops at Willow Bend, just in time for the holiday season.

Mallow Box, the company know for their gourmet marshmallow food and beverage items, has opened a store just in time for the holidays.

The brands first retail location in the Shops at Willow Bend food court is open, serving a variety of s’mores, hot and cold drinks, shakes, bowls, skewers and more.

“We’re so excited to be launching our first retail location,” said Mallow Box Founder Martha Ware. “We began with small local events, trade shows and pop-ups at places like Nordstrom’s eventually having a kiosk at the mall. Now we’ve taken the next step and looking forward to serving our great mallows and mallow-based drinks and shakes.”

All Mallow Box marshmallows are hand-made from scratch without preservatives. Each delicious item and drink come in a variety of flavors such as chocolate and cream, maple bourbon with bacon bits, lemon and banana rum, among many others, with a choice of toppings such as M&Ms, peanuts, coconut and more.

All items are also available to go. The s’mores bar is a new concept and customers will get to customize their s’mores to their delight –– choosing from cookies, marshmallow flavors, chocolate types and toppings! All s’mores are made on site and in front of the customer.

Text to 9-1-1 is now Available in Plano

When it isn’t safe to call, texting is now an option.

The Public Safety Communications Department (Plano 9-1-1) has announced that  text to 9-1-1 has been implemented in Plano.

The ability to text messages will assist citizens who are hearing impaired, providing equal access to 9-1-1. It can also be used in circumstances where it is unsafe for the caller to physically make a voice call to 9-1-1. (Note: text to 9-1-1 is not available in every city.)

Here are a few important tips to remember when texting to 9-1-1:

  • SMS does not provide accurate location data. You must provide your location as soon as you text.
  • No photos or videos, only text.
  • No emoji’s.
  • No abbreviations, spell things out. Be clear.
  • Only text to 9-1-1 if you are unable to make a voice call.

Top Ten U.S. Digital Cities

Only one north Texas city made into the top ten.

The City of Plano has been named a Top Ten U.S. Digital City by the Center for Digital Government.

Now in its 19th year, the annual survey recognizes cities using technology to challenge social challenges, enhance cybersecurity improve transparency and much more.

“Special congratulations go out to Plano, Texas, where the Technology Services Division established a governance board and process for vetting, prioritizing and managing over 320 technology projects and initiatives,” said Phil Bertolini, co-director for the Center for Digital Government. “In addition, through consolidation and infrastructure upgrades, Plano serves as a great example of how a city can leverage technology to increase performance and reduce costs.”

The City will be recognized for this achievement at an awards dinner held during the National League of Cities’ annual City Summit in San Antonio, November 20-23.

The top ten ranking cities in the 250,000 – 499,999 population category are:

1st City of Miami, FL

3rd City of Virginia Beach, VA
4th City of Wichita, KS
