Inaugural McKinney Beer and Bites Festival Announces Restaurant Lineup

The festival will feature live bands, local vendors, chef-prepared bites, beer pairings and more.

The inaugural McKinney Beer and Bites Festival, presented by The Auto Hail Repair Group and hosted at Tupps Brewery in McKinney, announced its lineup of restaurants and activities for the festival on Saturday, June 8, from 4pm to 8pm

Mouth-watering cuisine from six McKinney restaurants all paired with a beer from Tupps Brewery. Participating restaurants include EJ Wills Gastro Pub, Rye Craft Food and Cocktails, Dillas Quesadillas, Poboy Place, Sugarbacon and Bayou Jacks.

The festival is free to attend and family friendly. To enjoy food and beer attendees must buy a beer and bites pass for $40 by visiting the ticket site. The ticket price includes a variety of delicious cuisine and a paired beer from the six participating restaurants. A portion of the proceeds benefits the Beer and Bites non-profit partner Hugs Café.

“Auto Hail Repair Group loves being a part of the community and this community event at Tupps will not only be a lot of fun but it also gives back and supports Hugs Café.,” says Amy Lee, consultant for Auto Hail Repair Group “The restaurants have all came up with the best menus paired with Tupps beer. It’s seriously going to be the most delicious event of the summer!”

Attendees will enjoy live music, shopping more than 50 local vendors and boutiques, participating in the people’s choice competition, playing lawn games and more. The winning restaurant chosen by attendees will take home bragging rights and a giant custom Beer and Bites Trophy.

The Chinese Neighbor will host an 8-course feast of special dishes by Chef Bob Tam on Sunday, January 26 from 5pm to 7pm at the Prosper, TX location.

The Chinese New Year is filled with lots tradition. The Year of the rat celebrates wealth, surplus and the beginning of a new day.

The menu has been set, but may change due to availability of ingredients & Chef Bob Tam’s whimsey.

First Course – Malted Shrimp Chips, Chinese Onion Dip
Second Course – Century Deviled Eggs
Third Course – Smoked Salmon “Everything” Eggroll
Fourth Course – Mustard Green Egg Drop Soup
Fifth Course – Grilled Cheese Dumpling, H.K. Borscht

Mallow Box S’Mores Bar Cafe Opens

Gourmet marshmallows arrive at the Shops at Willow Bend, just in time for the holiday season.

Mallow Box, the company know for their gourmet marshmallow food and beverage items, has opened a store just in time for the holidays.

The brands first retail location in the Shops at Willow Bend food court is open, serving a variety of s’mores, hot and cold drinks, shakes, bowls, skewers and more.

“We’re so excited to be launching our first retail location,” said Mallow Box Founder Martha Ware. “We began with small local events, trade shows and pop-ups at places like Nordstrom’s eventually having a kiosk at the mall. Now we’ve taken the next step and looking forward to serving our great mallows and mallow-based drinks and shakes.”

All Mallow Box marshmallows are hand-made from scratch without preservatives. Each delicious item and drink come in a variety of flavors such as chocolate and cream, maple bourbon with bacon bits, lemon and banana rum, among many others, with a choice of toppings such as M&Ms, peanuts, coconut and more.

All items are also available to go. The s’mores bar is a new concept and customers will get to customize their s’mores to their delight –– choosing from cookies, marshmallow flavors, chocolate types and toppings! All s’mores are made on site and in front of the customer.

Text to 9-1-1 is now Available in Plano

When it isn’t safe to call, texting is now an option.

The Public Safety Communications Department (Plano 9-1-1) has announced that  text to 9-1-1 has been implemented in Plano.

The ability to text messages will assist citizens who are hearing impaired, providing equal access to 9-1-1. It can also be used in circumstances where it is unsafe for the caller to physically make a voice call to 9-1-1. (Note: text to 9-1-1 is not available in every city.)

Here are a few important tips to remember when texting to 9-1-1:

  • SMS does not provide accurate location data. You must provide your location as soon as you text.
  • No photos or videos, only text.
  • No emoji’s.
  • No abbreviations, spell things out. Be clear.
  • Only text to 9-1-1 if you are unable to make a voice call.
